“Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.” (James 1:27) The first century church distinguished itself by not just “cursing the darkness” (opposing infanticide and child abandonment), but by “lighting a candle” (By searching for those throwaway children and caring for them and adopting them). We should emulate those great Christians.
